Accidents
So I got into a car accident on Monday night, Oct 17. I had to stay up all night on New Jersey Turnpike waiting for a tow truck to take my car and give me a life to my house. The car isn’t completely totaled. There were no other drivers involved. There was some debris in the road. I have no fucking clue what it was. It doesn’t matter though. It happened. I had to move on. I went to class that morning, not getting a single minute of sleep. I took the train to Hoboken and waltzed into the class like nothing happened, presented my work, and left.
This whole situation got me thinking about accidents in general. Not just motor vehicle accidents, but everyday things that just happen unexpectedly. These crazy things just happen and we have to react quickly, or slowly depending on the situation. Nonetheless, we have to react. I consider recently how I met my girlfriend. It was not on a dating app or any of these current things people do to avoid having an actual connection with someone. I can’t say where we met, not here at least, but I’m glad we did it that way because in some way it was an accident. These moments bring out what makes us human. Trying to do something purposefully is where things will normally not go to plan.
Move with a purpose, yes. But prepare that which is unexpected.
